Sofa Covers

(234 products)

Sofa covers here come in two main styles: stretch slipcovers that fit over the whole lounge like a second skin, and quilted or waterproof protectors that lie on the seat and back to catch pet hair and spills. You can also get covers for recliners, armchairs, swivel barrel chairs and futons. Tip: measure your sofa from arm to arm before buying, as stretch covers are sized by seat count and width range, not by brand. Also see sofas, armchairs and recliners and 3 seater sofas.

How to choose sofa covers

Measure first

Measure the full width from the outside of one arm to the other, then the seat depth. Match that to the width range in the product name, for example single sofa 90 to 140 cm or 3 seater 185 to 230 cm. If you are between sizes, stretch covers are more forgiving than fitted ones.

Pick the style

  • Stretch slipcovers in jersey, spandex, velvet or jacquard give a snug, tidy look.
  • Quilted protectors sit over the seat and back and are easy to pull off and wash.
  • Waterproof and pet covers suit dogs, cats and kids.
  • Cushion covers fit individual seat cushions for T cushion and 3 cushion sofas.

Recliners and odd shapes

Recliners, power lift recliners and swivel barrel chairs need their own cut so the mechanism still works. Look for recliner covers with side pockets or split pieces, and fitted stretch covers for armless futons.

Living with pets

For dogs and cats, a reversible or waterproof cover with an anti-slip back stays in place better and protects against scratches. A dedicated spot helps too, so think about pet beds or a washable throw from our blankets range. For outdoor lounges, use outdoor furniture covers instead.

Sofa Covers: common questions

What size sofa cover do I need?

Measure from the outside of one arm to the other and match that to the seat count and width range listed in the product name. A 3 seater cover usually suits sofas around 185 to 230 cm wide. Stretch covers have some give, so if you are between two sizes the stretch style is the easier fit.

Are lounge covers and couch covers the same thing?

Yes. Lounge cover, couch cover, sofa cover and slipcover all mean the same thing in Australia. The real difference is the style: a full stretch slipcover that wraps the whole sofa, or a protector that lies over the seat and back. Both styles are in this collection.

Will a sofa cover stop my dog or cat damaging the couch?

A good cover takes the wear instead of your upholstery. Look for waterproof, scratch resistant or pet sofa covers, and pick one with an anti-slip back so it does not slide around when pets jump up. Reversible covers let you flip to a clean side between washes.

Can I get a cover for a recliner?

Yes. There are recliner chair covers, quilted waterproof recliner slipcovers and covers made for power lift recliners. These are cut so the footrest and back can still move. Check the description to make sure it suits a 1 seater recliner or the shape you have.

Do stretch sofa covers stay in place?

Most stretch covers use elastic edges and fixing strips that tuck into the gap between the seat and back. Push them in firmly after fitting and again after washing. Protector style covers with an anti-slip backing are better if the cover is moving every time someone sits down.

Can I wash sofa covers?

Many covers here are listed as washable or machine washable, which is one of the main reasons to use one. Check the care notes on each product before washing, and use a gentle cycle and line dry where possible to keep stretch fabric in shape.
