Armchairs & Recliners

An armchair is any single seat with arms, usually built for comfort. An accent chair is chosen mainly for style, often a bold colour or shape that adds interest to a room. Many chairs here are both, so look at seat depth and padding if comfort matters most.

Check the dimensions upright and fully reclined on the product page. Allow space behind for the backrest to tilt, unless it is a wall-hugger style, and enough room in front for the footrest to extend. Measure doorways too, so you can get it into the room.

Electric recliners let you stop at any angle with a button or remote, which is easier if you have limited strength or mobility. Some also add massage and heat. Manual recliners are simpler, cheaper and don't need to sit near a power point. Choose based on how you will use it.

It varies by chair. Most listings state a maximum weight capacity, so check it before you buy. Metal frames and solid timber generally hold more than lightweight accent chairs. If several chairs look similar, the weight capacity is a good way to separate them.

PU leather wipes clean easily and suits homes with kids or pets. Fabric feels softer and breathes better on hot days, but stains need spot cleaning. Velvet sits in between with a soft feel and a richer look. Pick what suits how the chair will be used.
