How to shop kitchen and appliances
Small appliances
Coffee machines, air fryers and other benchtop appliances make up a big part of the range. Before buying, measure the bench space under your overhead cupboards and check the wattage, capacity and cleaning needs on the listing. If space is tight, choose appliances that do more than one job. If an air fryer is on your list, see air fryers.
Utensils, bakeware and food storage
- Utensils and cutlery: stainless steel lasts longest and handles the dishwasher.
- Bakeware: non-stick tins release cakes easily, while steel and glass are better for high heat roasting.
- Food storage: glass containers can go from fridge to oven, plastic ones are lighter for lunches.
Drinkware and entertaining
The range includes glasses, mugs, drink bottles and disposable cups for parties. Check whether items are dishwasher safe if you plan to use them every day.
Bigger items and whitegoods
For fridges, rangehoods and freestanding appliances, measure the cavity width, height and depth, and leave the ventilation gap the manual asks for. Check the doorways and hallway too. Browse fridges and rangehoods for those.
Price
Utensils and small kitchen items start from about $10, with most products around $25 to $50. Coffee machines, large appliances and whitegoods sit well above that, so filter by price, power type or material to narrow things down quickly.
